Pakistan is primarily an agrarian nation. But after gaining independence in 1947, irrigated agriculture has taken center stage, with dry land and arid agriculture receiving less attention. The irrigated areas were unable to meet the demand for food due to the rapid population growth, thus it was necessary to figure out how to utilize the sizable portion of arable land in the rained zone.
The Barani Commission was established by the Pakistani government in the 1970s to examine and suggest policies for the advancement of rained agriculture and the elevation of the impoverished masses via research, education, and the development of personnel and technology.
The Punjabi government founded Barani Agricultural College in Rawalpindi in response to the Barani Commission’s recommendations; it was subsequently raised to the rank of university in

Important Note:
1.The Admission Form can be obtained from the University website along with the Challan Form amounting to Rs. 1000/- by registering on the admission portal.
2. The University Entrance Test fee Rs.2000/- for Ph.D. & M.Sc. (Hons.) Agricultural Engineering will be charged excluding the Admission form fee i.e. Rs.1000/-.
3. The Candidate applying through the online admission form must have completed the profile. Then download the admission form along with the challan form and submit the fee of Rs.1000/- on account of the University Admission Form and Test fee (where applicable) in designated online branches of the Bank of Punjab, attach the original copy of the Challan form (University Copy) having the stamp of the bank on it with the required documents and send to the admission office of respective Faculty/Institute.
4. Applications, complete in all respects, accompanied by academic credentials, domicile certificate, migration certificate, etc. must be submitted to the admission office of the respective Faculty/Institute within the due date.
5. Online applications without the original deposited Challan form will not be accepted.
6. The applicant applying for admission to the Ph.D. program must have consent from a concerned supervisor.
7. Incomplete/forged applications/documents are liable to be rejected.
8. The University Entrance Test is compulsory with 70% marks for admission to Ph.D.
9. Qualifying for the University Admission/Entry Test shall be mandatory for M.Sc. (Hons.) MS/M.Phil. with 50% marks; however, merit will be determined by the marks obtained in the last degree/certificate.
10. The Entrance Test for M.Sc. (Hons.) and Ph.D. Agricultural Engineering will be held at the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering and Technology.
11. Applicants must have obtained all the pre-requisite qualifications from the recognized institutions.
12. No separate intimation for admission, entry test, Fee Schedule, etc will be sent.
13. Only online Admission Forms & Prospectus facility will be available whereas, hard copy will not be provided/available.
